Maillons
Maillons are simple connectors with a screw barrel to close and secure. They are ideal for semi-permanently attaching things to other things, as the gates can be tightened with a spanner. Usually made from Stainless Steel in an oval shape, but galvanized steel and aluminium ones are also available, along with semi-circular and delta shapes.

Often used for caving and rope access, or by climbers for rigging fixed abseil points, linking anchor chains etc. although if you are thinking of using them as fixed gear please bear in mind that these are not as corrosion resistant as a stainless maillon.
