Save the date!! Crag Clean Up, Saturday August 21st 2021
After a year away Outside is proud to announce the return of the famous Crag Clean Up!
We love the outdoors, and we are fully aware how much we benefit from all it has to offer. People travel from all over the world to enjoy the Peak District and we want to do all we can to help look after it.
How the Crag Clean Up 2021 works
Every year (except for last year, damn you Covid!!) Outside has run a crag clean up based on a very simple idea. We send our staff out to pick litter all over the Peak District, from crags, footpaths, beauty spots and laybys. We kindly ask that friends, family and customers all help us with this. We like to thank everyone involved by having beers, soft drinks, and a BBQ, all for free, outside the shop in the afternoon and into the evening, plus some spot prizes awarded by our sponsors.
We provide bin bags and gloves from the shop (or you can bring your own from home), and while you are out on your adventures that day, simply collect what you can and bring it back to us. We will add it to the pile, and enjoy the food, drink and merriment, and maybe even win a prize. The local council collects it all on Monday morning for safe disposal.
Each year we have a sponsor, but a special mention this year has to go to Black Diamond, who have really gone the extra mile. Not only are they providing prizes for the Crag Clean Up day, and running a sample sale (get your hands on some bargains!) but they will also be making a generous donation to Outside's Peak Park volunteer programme.
Outside staff regularly lend a hand with maintaining the areas we love. This year Black Diamond has made a substantial cash contribution to the Peak District's Access fund, so we can not only provide the elbow grease, but also help supply the materials needed. The first area we're concentrating on is the wooden styles we all use to access Stanage High Neb.
We aim to provide Outside's help to the Peak District monthly, which is a fraction of what it does for us!

Crag Clean Up - Timetable
- 9:30am Shop and cafe opens, please call in to collect bags and gloves (or bring your own)
- Add your swag to the pile throughout the day
- Black Diamond Sale Rail
- 5:00 pm, BBQ and refreshments begin
- 6:00 pm shop closes, spot prizes from BMC and Black Diamond awarded shortly after.
