The Patagonia Ascensionist 30 Litre Rucksack

Designed for one-to-two day ascents, this streamlined, yet highly versatile climbing backpack has everything you need, but absolutely nothing more. Designed in collaboration with legendary alpinist Steve House, it's built to go light on routes from Fitz Roy to Chamonix, but willingly expands when you need to overstuff. It features an integrated, asymmetrical spindrift collar that opens wide and closes in a single motion for fast packing.

Ergonomic shoulder straps (with load lifters) match your torso’s contours for 24-hour comfort. The pack also has a minimalist hipbelt and low-profile sternum strap. Exterior daisy chains provide lashing options for a rope, helmet or pad and there are compression strap fittings to the side so you can re-jig the sack to carry skis and cinch down loads. The bag has an asymmetric profile for elbow clearance and a zipped pocket on the lid for quick access to small essentials.

The Ascensionist 30 is available in two different back lengths. We recommend choosing the Large size if you're over 6 foot tall.
