Rob Turnbull-Managing Director

As a child brought up in a family surrounded by climbers and outdoor types, my brother and I were regularly dragged out on long walks and taken climbing with our Mum & Dad. On hitting my teenage years, naturally, I rebelled and got into skateboarding. However, it seems you can’t escape your heritage and eventually I too found myself venturing out into the mountains and hills.

I am equally happy hillwalking in Scotland, snowboarding in the Alps or climbing and biking in the Peak District where I live and work. I do have a great love of Scottish landscapes and particularly enjoy anything Scottish winter related – I’m currently working on not getting ‘addicted’ to Munro bagging as I can see it taking over my life! Some of my favourite achivements have been in Scotland including a sucessful 1st try at Skye’s Cuillin ridge and great winter classics like Point Five Gully and Hadrian’s Wall on Ben Nevis. My Alpine climbing experience is limited, although I have snowboarded in the French Alps for many years. However I’ve done a few classics in Chamonix such as the Petit Verte and Chere Couloir and the South Ridge of Salbit in Switzerland with Dad.

I have also been lucky enough to go on exciting sailing trips and expeditions with my family to remote places such as Svalbard, The Lofoten Islands and The Faroe Islands. Sailing and climbing in the Lofoten islands was an amazing experience. I am very lucky to have a job I enjoy so much and that surrounds me with people and products that also fit with this life style.
