Ball Nut
A unique design, Ballnuts use the principle of opposing wedges to give protection in thin parallel cracks where nothing else can be placed. A sliding ball pushes against a grooved wedge when weighted. The range of expansion is 2:1 in each size and the size range covers cracks from 3 to 18mm. Ballnuts can protect cracks that even the smallest conventional cams using lobes cannot. They are far thinner but at the same time offer far more surface area in contact with the rock than conventional cams. This makes them ideal for aid climbing or for protecting free climbs where nothing else will go. Find Cam specifications with our Camming Device Comparison Tool Knowledge-base - Which Cam?
