Our suppliers and postal services are dealing with difficult circumstances, just as more people than ever are shopping online. We will work hard to get your order to you as soon as possible but some orders are taking a bit longer to arrive with our customers.

• We reply to all emails as quickly as humanly possible - please only contact us once as this will help to speed things up.
• Next Day orders are still arriving as expected at the moment, but you may experience some delays on our Standard Delivery service.
• If you order with our Click and Collect service, please wait until we notify you by email that your order is ready before visiting the shop.

International services suspended

31 December 2020

From 31st December Derbyshire will be in Tier 4, so Outside will once more close its doors. We continue to trade online as always, so please do continue to browse and contact us as normal by emailing [email protected] or calling us on 01433 631111 (Mon-Fri 9-5).

If you'd like to buy a pair of walking boots or other footwear, please watch the video below for James' guide to measuring your feet and we'll do our very best to fit you remotely.

Both Next Day delivery and free UK standard postage options are available; and you can also choose to 'Click & Collect' from the Hathersage store. However please bear in mind you should not make any journeys into a Tier 4 area for any reasons other than those outlined in government guidance.

Well, here we go again. In line with government guidelines, the Outside Shop and Cafe in Hathersage will close their doors at 5:30 pm on Wednesday 4th November. We hope to reopen at the beginning of December along with the rest of the country.

With your support, we got through the last lockdown intact and have every intention of welcoming you all back to the shop and cafe as soon as it's safe. In the meantime, please do carry on backing Outside by buying your climbing and walking gear (and your Christmas presents?!) with us online.

Both Next Day delivery and free UK standard postage options are available; and you can also choose to 'Click & Collect' from the Hathersage store by letting us know in the comments box in your order, or by emailing us. We will be in touch as soon as your order is ready for you.

Next Day delivery is back

From today our delivery services return to normal. Our couriers have reinstated their Next Day delivery guarantee, so you can now get your goods on the next working day as before. Please see our Delivery page for full details.

Outside Shop is now open. There are some new safety and hygiene procedures in place including our new one way system. Please come to the back door in the car park first!

We're nearly ready to reopen!

The Outside Shop is currently closed, but we are working hard to make sure we're ready to reopen - at the moment on 15th June at 11 am! As always we also continue to trade online. Outside Shop is now closed.

Today we closed the doors of Outside for the foreseeable future.  This was a difficult decision to take, especially as the Peak District has been busier than ever the last few days with people hoping to visit the shop.

It became impossible to protect staff and customers in this environment and so we chose safety first! This decision leaves our 33 year old business with an uncertain future, however we know the decision was for the greater good.

Now is when we will need you the most, we would appreciate your support buying from Outside online, and let's get through this together. (From a 2 metre distance of course)

In the mean time we will try to keep you amused and informed with posts and videos of products that you will hopefully find useful over these tricky times.

Thank you customers, staff, suppliers, friends and family for all sticking with us in a crazy world.

Stay Psyched!! Stay Outside!! (away from others!)

Outside is still open and trading as normal, however in these crazy times that could change, so please keep an eye on our website and social media pages for updates. The government has now advised restaurants to close so the cafe will be closed from this weekend, until further notice.

As always you can carry on supporting Outside by buying online. We will continue to offer free delivery in the UK and after this is all over we're looking forward to welcoming you all back into the shop and our cafe, which has been a lively hub for all outdoor enthusiasts for 33 years.

For now, if you do come in store, we will keep our distance and keep up with the cleaning. If you need more personal advice please call us on 01433 651936, option 1; and we will be happy to talk you through your online order.

In common with all our friends, family and customers, Outside is keeping a close eye on changing government guidelines, during a tricky time. We will announce on this page and social media channels as soon as we have any updates.

We’ll be following government advice closely and taking as many extra precautions as we can to combat transmission of Covid-19, including extra shop and café cleaning rotas and some changes to the shared condiments and drinks available in the café. Please remember all our café food including tea, coffee and cake is available to take away if you prefer.

If you are feeling well and want to visit the Outside shop, we’ll remain open for you as long as we can. We’d hugely appreciate it if you can make any payments using credit and debit cards, contactless where possible, as this equipment is significantly easier to clean than currency!

We will of course be keeping the website up and running for as long as we can complete delivery, so if there’s something you need, remember all our shop stock is also available online.

Finally, as we’re all in need of a little good news, the latest advice from the BMC is that non-risky outdoor activity (let’s minimise the chances of needing medical or mountain rescue assistance) is a good plan, provided you can use personal transport to get there. There’s that silver lining!
